Not every puppy enters the world with an equal shot at life. Born without front legs, Nubby was nearly euthanised just hours after his birth. But thanks to one couple’s unwavering compassion, this special little dog was given the chance to live — and thrive. What follows is a true story of love, resilience, and second chances.

A Rough Start to Life

When Nubby came into the world, he looked different. With no front legs, he struggled immediately — unable to reach his mother to nurse, and pushed aside by his littermates. At only four hours old, a veterinarian suggested the most “humane” option: euthanasia.

But not everyone agreed.

One Couple’s Life-Changing Decision

Lou Robinson from Texas and her husband Mark have long been advocates for unwanted animals. When they saw Nubby, they didn’t see a hopeless case — they saw a life worth fighting for.

Rejecting the vet’s advice, Lou and Mark took Nubby home. He was tiny, fragile, and dependent on round-the-clock care. But they committed fully, bottle-feeding him, keeping him warm and safe, and showering him with love.

At first, it seemed their efforts were working. Nubby opened his eyes, his ears developed, and he began to respond to familiar voices. He even barked. The little pup was making progress — until a sudden health scare changed everything.

A Life-Threatening Setback

At just one month old, Nubby began to sneeze uncontrollably. He struggled to pass stool, and bubbles came from his nose — clear signs that something was wrong. An emergency X-ray revealed an abnormality in his oesophagus.

It was a critical moment. Nubby was put on antibiotics and placed in an incubator. The odds were stacked against him. But the little dog didn’t give up. He kept fighting, showing a determination far beyond his tiny size.

A Fighter Through and Through

Nubby’s will to live was extraordinary. Every time a new obstacle came up, he faced it head-on. And Lou and Mark were there every step of the way, doing everything in their power to support him. They weren’t just caregivers — they became his champions.

With time, Nubby began to stabilise. His strength returned, and so did his playfulness. Slowly but surely, he grew into a confident, curious dog with a zest for life that inspires everyone he meets.

Three Years Later: A Thriving Pup with a Big Personality

Today, Nubby is living proof that being different is not a disadvantage. Three years have passed, and he’s thriving. He plays, explores, and enjoys every day with infectious enthusiasm. Thanks to a custom-made wheelchair, Nubby can move around with ease, chasing after toys and soaking up all that life has to offer.

His journey has captured hearts all over the world. Lou and Mark created a Facebook page to share his progress, where thousands now follow his adventures. Judging by the updates, Nubby is happier and stronger than ever.

More Than a Survivor — A Symbol of Hope

Nubby’s story is a powerful reminder: life isn’t about perfection, it’s about perseverance. Though he was born different, and despite all the challenges thrown at him, Nubby has become a symbol of resilience.

His journey teaches us that every life matters — and sometimes, all it takes is one person (or couple) to believe in the impossible.

“He wasn’t supposed to make it, but he’s here, running, playing, and loving life. He is a miracle,” Lou says.
